A big one this week, including our first app in a public app store. Here is everything new, plus what is coming in the next few days.
🤖 The Android app is publicly available
- No more invite needed. The Zinng Android app is live on Google Play and anyone can install it: get it here. It went through review far faster than we expected.
- If the app has been useful to you, we would really appreciate a review on the Play Store. It genuinely helps other business owners find us.
- iOS is probably a week or two out. We are working through a few minor requirements Apple came back with, and it should follow shortly after.
🧠 Your agent now fills in the caller's name and email
- When a call ends, the system reads the conversation and automatically pulls out the caller's name and email address if they were mentioned, then sets them in the inbox for you. No more digging through a transcript to copy them.
- If you have already set a name yourself, we leave it alone. Your version always wins.
💬 Start a new text from your phone
- Tap the + at the top of the inbox list in the mobile app and you can text someone you have never messaged before. We did not realize this was missing until it got pointed out to us. Thank you for that.
- One important note: texting someone who has not already called or texted you requires the Pro plan and A2P 10DLC registration. That registration is what puts your business on file with the mobile carriers so your messages go out under your own brand, which is what makes them deliverable in the first place.
⏱️ Buy extra minutes without asking us
- Running low? You can now purchase additional buckets of minutes yourself under Team > Subscription.
- These work a little differently from your monthly minutes: purchased minutes do not expire at the end of the month. They sit there until you use them, which makes them a good buffer for a busy stretch. If you have been buying these from us by hand, you can now do it yourself.
📱 More on mobile
- We now prompt you if push notifications are off. We found that a lot of people did not realize the app had them at all. If you would rather turn them on right now, open Profile and toggle Push Notifications.
- Fixed the keyboard covering part of the HIPAA consent flow.
📋 A note on A2P 10DLC registration
- Twilio has been giving us a hard time lately on approving new campaigns, which is the final step of registration. We are working directly with them to pin down exactly what they want to see. If your registration is sitting in that last stage, that is why, and we will keep you posted.
Coming in the next few days
- Agent memory, available tomorrow. When someone calls in, your agent will know whether they have called before and can pull up the history of those earlier calls during the conversation, so it remembers what the two of you already discussed. This one needs some changes to your agent's instructions, so reach out and we will help you set it up.
- Greeting callers by name. When we know who is calling, your agent will be able to greet them by name. We are still testing this, so we will most likely want to configure it with you.
- Custom fields pulled out of the call. One of you asked for this. Define the details that matter to your business, and the system will pull them out of the conversation automatically. A plumber could capture the service address, for example, and see it without reading the transcript. It will appear in your post-call emails first, then elsewhere. We already have the underlying capability, we are working out the cleanest way to show it to you.
Further out
- Mass texting. A few weeks out. It will most likely require A2P 10DLC registration. We already have the capability, one of our dental offices is doing it today.
- AI in the chat widget, plus other improvements to the widget. This has been lower priority because most of you talk to customers by phone and text rather than through website traffic, but we know how valuable a chat widget that answers on its own can be.
- Zinng Scheduling. Set up events and availability, and let your phone agents book appointments, all inside Zinng. No need for Cal.com or anything like it unless you want it.
As always, keep the feature requests coming. Everything we can build, we will build.
