Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about missed calls and their impact on your business.

It depends on your carrier. On Verizon, dial *72 followed by the number to forward all calls, or *71 to forward only missed calls. On AT&T, T-Mobile, and most Canadian carriers (Rogers, Bell, Telus, Fido, Koodo, Freedom), dial **21* then the number then # to forward all calls, or **004* then the number then # to forward only missed calls. Use the tool above to get the exact code for your carrier with your number already filled in.
Pick your carrier above and choose "All calls." The tool gives you a code to dial (for example *72 on Verizon or **21* on AT&T and T-Mobile). Open your phone dialer, enter the code with the number you want to forward to, and press call. Every incoming call then goes straight to that number and your phone will not ring.
Choose "Only missed calls" above. This is called conditional call forwarding: your own phone rings first, and a call is only forwarded if you do not answer, are on another call, or are unreachable. On Verizon the code is *71; on AT&T, T-Mobile, and most Canadian carriers it is **004*. This is the recommended setup for an AI receptionist, so you can still pick up when you are available.
On Verizon, dial *73. On AT&T, T-Mobile, and most Canadian carriers, dial ##21# to turn off forwarding of all calls, or ##004# to turn off missed-call forwarding. On US Cellular, dial *73. The tool shows you the exact turn-off code for your carrier next to the setup code.
On most major US and Canadian carriers, forwarding a call uses your normal plan minutes and there is no separate charge, especially on unlimited plans. Some prepaid or legacy plans may count a forwarded call as an outbound minute. If you are unsure, check with your carrier, but for the vast majority of modern plans there is no extra cost.
It depends which option you choose. With "All calls," your phone will not ring at all, everything goes to the forwarding number. With "Only missed calls," your phone rings first and calls are only forwarded when you do not pick up, are busy, or are unreachable. Most businesses using an AI receptionist choose "Only missed calls."
Set the forwarding number to your Zinng phone number. Enter that number in the tool above, pick your carrier, choose whether to forward all calls or only missed calls, and dial the code it gives you. From then on, Zinng answers those calls 24/7, books appointments, and takes messages. To stop, dial the turn-off code shown next to it.
