How to Port Your Number from Dialpad to Zinng

Step-by-step guide to transfer your business phone number out of Dialpad and into Zinng. Generate your port-out PIN at dialpad.com/portout, gather your account details, and let Zinng handle the port, about 1 to 2 weeks.

If your business number is on Dialpad and you want your Zinng AI receptionist to answer calls and texts on it, you need to transfer (port) it to Zinng. Here is the short version: about 10 minutes on your end, plus roughly 1 to 2 weeks for the port itself to complete. Your number keeps working on Dialpad the whole time.

Important

Do not cancel your Dialpad account until the port is fully complete. If you cancel early, you can lose the number permanently. Your Dialpad service keeps working the whole time and you close it out once the number has moved.

What You'll Need

  • Admin access to Dialpad. You must be a Company Admin and Office Admin to generate the port-out PIN, regular users cannot.
  • Your account number (your Company ID, shown on your Dialpad invoice).
  • Your company/billing name and service address exactly as Dialpad has them.
  • The phone number(s) you want to move.
  • A recent Dialpad invoice or bill (last 30 days). Every port has to be backed by a supporting document, and because Dialpad does not issue a Customer Service Record (CSR), your most recent Dialpad invoice is that document.

Step 1: Get Your Port-Out PIN

Go to dialpad.com/portout, enter the number you want to transfer, and click Get PIN Number. Dialpad generates a unique port-out PIN for that number.

Moving several numbers at once? On the same page, open Current Portout Numbers, check the numbers you want (or Select All), enter a 4-digit PIN, and click Set Bulk PIN.

Step 2: Gather Your Details and a Recent Bill

Collect the following so the port goes through on the first try. The name and address must match Dialpad's records exactly, mismatches are the most common cause of delays.

  • The phone number(s) you are porting
  • Your account number (your Company ID, on your Dialpad invoice)
  • The company / billing name on the account
  • Your service address (in Dialpad Admin Settings, this is your Registered Location for Emergency Calls)
  • Your port-out PIN from Step 1
  • A copy of your most recent Dialpad invoice or bill (last 30 days)

To download your bill, sign in to Dialpad as an admin and go to your Admin Settings → Billing area, then download your most recent invoice. This is the supporting document we submit with the port, so it needs to show your account details. Dialpad does not provide a CSR, so the invoice is what proves the account.

If a port is rejected on the account number

Dialpad sometimes accepts either your Company ID or your phone number as the account number. If a port is rejected for an account-number mismatch, contact Dialpad support to confirm the exact account number to use, then we resubmit.

Step 3: Send Your Details to Zinng

Start your Zinng trial, then send your Zinng contact (or email [email protected]) the number you are porting, your account number, company/billing name, service address, port-out PIN, and your most recent Dialpad invoice/bill. From there, number porting is our job. We handle the carrier side and keep you posted until your number is live on Zinng.

Step 4: Sign the Letter of Authorization

We prepare a Letter of Authorization (LOA), usually a PDF, and email it to you. It gives us permission to move the number on your behalf and is a normal part of every port. Just sign it and send it back. If you are not sure how to sign a PDF, you can do it online for free in a couple of minutes, here is a short walkthrough: How to Sign a PDF for Free.

Step 5: Wait for the Port to Complete

Dialpad ports usually take about 1 to 2 weeks. Your number keeps working on Dialpad the entire time, so you will not miss calls. There is a brief cutover, usually just a few minutes, at the exact moment the number switches to Zinng. We will email you when it goes live.

Step 6: Cancel Your Dialpad Account

Only after we confirm the port is complete should you cancel your Dialpad plan. Once the number has moved, close out your Dialpad service for that number so you are not billed further.

Things to Know

  • It is free. Dialpad does not charge a fee to port your number out.
  • A recent bill is required. Every port needs a supporting document. Dialpad does not issue a CSR, so your most recent Dialpad invoice is what you submit.
  • Admin access is required. Only a Company Admin and Office Admin can generate the port-out PIN.
  • Keep your account active. Do not cancel Dialpad until the port is done, or you risk losing the number.
  • Details must match. The account name and address you give us must match Dialpad's records exactly, or the port can be rejected.
  • International numbers go through a separate process, Dialpad handles those via [email protected].
