T-Mobile call forwarding works with a few short dial codes, typed into your phone's keypad like a phone number. You can forward every call, or only the calls you don't answer.
Here are all the codes in one place, how to set forwarding up on iPhone and Android, how to turn it off, and what to do when a code doesn't work. The same codes work on Metro by T-Mobile and Mint Mobile, which run on T-Mobile's network.
T-Mobile call forwarding: the quick answer
| What you want | Dial this | Turn it off |
|---|---|---|
| Forward every call | **21*number# | ##21# |
| Forward if you don't answer | **61*number# | ##61# |
| Forward if you're busy | **67*number# | ##67# |
| Forward if your phone is off or has no signal | **62*number# | ##62# |
| Turn off all forwarding | n/a | ##004# |
Replace "number" with the full number you're forwarding to, starting with 1 (for example 12135550142). Press Call after each code.
T-Mobile call forwarding codes, explained
T-Mobile uses the standard short codes that most GSM phones understand. You type the code into the dialer, add the number, end with #, and press Call.
Your phone shows a confirmation, often "Registration successful." If you don't see one, the setting didn't take; see troubleshooting below.
T-Mobile conditional call forwarding
Conditional call forwarding means your phone rings first, and a call only forwards when you don't pick up, you're on another call, or your phone is unreachable. For a business owner, it's usually the right setup.
The no-answer code also lets you choose how long your phone rings before forwarding. Add ** plus a number of seconds before the final #, using 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30.
**61*number**20#
**67*number#
**62*number#
How to set up call forwarding in your phone's settings
iPhone
Go to Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding, switch it on, and enter the number. This forwards every call.
The iPhone menu has no option for unanswered calls only. For that, use the **61* code above.
Android
Open the Phone app, tap the menu, then Settings > Calls (sometimes called Supplementary services) > Call forwarding. Many Android phones let you set "when busy," "when unanswered," and "when unreachable" separately.
How to turn off call forwarding on T-Mobile
- Turn off everything at once: dial ##004# and press Call.
- Turn off one type: ##21# (all calls), ##61# (no answer), ##67# (busy), or ##62# (unreachable).
- iPhone: Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding, then switch it off.
- Android: Phone app > Settings > Calls > Call forwarding, then disable each option.
T-Mobile call forwarding not working?
- Turn off Wi-Fi calling and make sure you have a cellular signal, then dial the code again.
- Include the 1 before the 10-digit number.
- Wait for the confirmation before hanging up.
- Check your voicemail: forwarding unanswered calls replaces voicemail for those calls, which is expected.
- Still stuck? Call T-Mobile support (611 from your phone) and ask them to check that call forwarding is enabled on your line.
Using conditional forwarding to catch missed business calls
The most common business reason to forward is making sure missed and after-hours calls still reach someone. No-answer forwarding does exactly that: your phone rings first, and only the calls you miss move on.
Forward those calls to Zinng, and an AI receptionist answers them 24/7, books appointments, and can transfer urgent callers back to you. Our T-Mobile to Zinng doc fills in the exact codes with your Zinng number, and our call forwarding codes tool covers other carriers. On AT&T? See our AT&T call forwarding guide.
