Can Zinng Text International Phone Numbers?
Zinng sends text messages to phone numbers in the United States and Canada. Here is what that means for you, why it works this way today, and what to do if you have a genuine need to text a customer in another country.
What Zinng supports today
Right now, Zinng sends text messages to United States and Canada phone numbers. Texts to numbers in other countries are not sent.
This applies to every text Zinng might send on your behalf, whether that is a booking or scheduling link your AI agent offers to text a caller during a call, or any other automated message. If the destination number is outside the US or Canada, the text is not delivered.
Why texting is limited to the US and Canada
We would rather be straight with you than quietly let messages disappear. There are two honest reasons.
- Deliverability is unreliable. Texts sent to international numbers from a US or Canada business number are frequently filtered or dropped by the mobile carriers in that country, and they often do not arrive at all. We do not want you to believe a message reached your customer when it never did.
- Cost. International text messaging is dramatically more expensive than texting within the US and Canada, often many times the price, and it varies widely from country to country. It is not part of normal Zinng usage.
There is one more thing worth knowing. Even when an international text does go through, the reply often comes back from a scrambled sender ID. That breaks the two way conversation Zinng is built around, so even a message that technically sends usually cannot hold a real back and forth with your customer.
What happens if a text to another country is attempted
If your AI agent or an automated message tries to text a number outside the US or Canada, Zinng stops the outbound text and shows a short notice, so nothing fails silently and you are never left guessing.
The conversation itself is not lost. The record still appears in your inbox exactly as it happened. The only thing that is stopped is the outbound international text.
Do you really need to text another country?
This is not a hard no. If you have a real, ongoing reason to text customers in a specific country, we would genuinely like to hear about it. Reach out and tell us what you are trying to do, and we can talk through whether there is a workable path for your situation.
